As of December 2024, Revcast has an improved way of connecting to your Salesforce CRM for quicker and easier setup. This document is a quick overview of the process. Please contact us if you have any questions - we are happy to walk-through the setup with you. For context, you must have appropriate Salesforce permissions in order to authorize a connection to Revcast - due to the complexity of Salesforce permissions, we ask that you contact your internal Salesforce administrator to confirm.

The high-level steps are as follows:

  1. Confirm your Refresh token policy
  2. Confirm custom field history tracking
  3. Define your key field mappings
  4. Connect & authenticate Salesforce

Confirm Refresh Token Policy in Salesforce

To allow Revcast to regularly sync with Salesforce, please confirm the Refresh Token Policy in your Salesforce instance. We have a quick how-to on our Salesforce Refresh Token Policy Setup page. For context, if this policy is not set by a Salesforce administrator for your account and permission level, it’s likely that you will need to frequently re-authenticate (first step of this guide) with Salesforce in Revcast to keep data accurate and up-to-date.

Confirm Custom Field History Tracking in Salesforce

Finally, if you are using custom fields for data in Revcast, we recommend that you enable history tracking for the fields in your Salesforce instance. This will allow Revcast to monitor those fields continuously. Please note: this change is not retroactive, but will impact data from the point of enabling the tracking and forward.

To enable custom field tracking in Salesforce, follow this simple how-to on our Salesforce Custom Field History Tracking Setup page.

Define your Key Field Mappings

This step is only necessary if you are using custom fields for amount, type or source.

In order for Revcast to properly track pipeline and sales data, we ask that you define the name of the custom field on your Sales Opportunity that maps to the similar data in Revcast. If you use the standard fields, you can ignore this note.

On the “Settings” page, click on the “Salesforce Connection” tab and you will see the screen below. In each text box, fill-in the API Field Name for the fields associated with your Opportunity amount, opportunity type, and source. You can ignore the other fields for now.

Note: If you use a custom field in Salesforce, make sure to include the “__c” with the rest of the field name, shown in the below screenshot example from Salesforce. The “Field Name” is the information to add to Revcast.
